WOW (Wolverines Out West)
September 9-13th, 2026
Come and join us as we explore the black hills of South Dakota. With over 3,800 miles of roads and trails for motorized vehicles we are sure to find some trails that will appear to all club members. Our trail master for the event is Cristian B. as he is putting together maps along with a complete itinerary for the trip. WOW trips are open to all members and INVITED guests. If you are not a member and would like to attend reach out to a club member or plan to attend one of our meetings. There is NO cost for the actual event but keep in mind that you will need to provide your own lodging, food and OHV permits. As of 2026 there are two different permits required. See links below.

Arrive Deadwood area SD – Tuesday – Sept 8, 2026 at the latest
The trail rides are arranged by setting and will be refined and assigned to a day of the week once the group arrives:
SET 1: Devil's Tower via Bearlodge area
Mostly Hwy
Exploring the Bearlodge section of Black Hills (WY)
Depending on time available return on hwy or thru Bearlodge section again
Spearfish Canyon – paved road
73 miles – to Devils Tower ~ 3 - 4h
91 miles – return to Lead ~ 3-4 h
SET 2: Camp 5/Crystal Cave/Bulldog
Camp 5 / Crystal cave (red tracks)
Total 28.7 miles
Camp 5 is rated Severity 5 – 6
~ 5 miles – 2-3 h
Crystal Cave
5 miles easy less then 1 h
Bald Mountain+ Bulldog (green track)
From Crystal cave- follow forest roads to I90
Bulldog – aka East Rim
~ 10 miles
Return – (light blue)
Vanocker Canyon
Paved roads
If time allows – Red hill on the way back
SET 3: Norbeck National Scenic Byway (Needles Hwy/Mt Rushmore)
Morning – Paved roads – 78.2 miles (dark purple)
Needles HWY (SD87)
Peter Nornbeck Byway (US16A)
Lunch stop at Mt Rushmore
Afternoon – paved + forest roads + paved – 56 miles (Light purple)
SET 4: Tinton Road/Higgins Gulch/Boundary Gulch/Cement Ridge
Cheyenne Crossing → Tinton Rd+ Higgins Gulch
Depending on time additional trails could be explored in the Tinton Area – (red line)
Exit to Spearfish ( Lunch?)
Return thru Boundary Gulch / Cement Ridge (purple line)
SET 5: Calamity Canyon.Lost Gulch/Bear Den
Calamity Canyon is Rated severe
- There is a bypass rated difficult
- Additional options in the area rated moderate
SET 6: Moses Hill/Kelly Spur Road/Nemo (Iceman option)
Moderate to easy trails along Nemo rd
- except Iceman (optional )
Depending on time – return to 385 or I90
Night Ride: Mt Roosevelt Loop
